So guys I’ve been doing my homework and searching for about a year ago into a new motorcycle. My girlfriend was not too happy about it but after much back and forth she let me go through with this. I am a new rider so the obvious choices were the 300 classes (Yamaha r3, cb300f etc.) only thing was wrong with that is that I would outgrow them quickly which turned me off. I started to watch a lot of Motobloggers and I discovered the fz- 07. The Yamaha was perfect it was the right mix of sportsbike and naked bike.

After much research on Craigslist I found a nice example 2015 red fz-07 with 750 miles bone stock. The seller was asking 5900 which was a deal itself I got him down to 5600 I couldn’t pass on this deal. I am taking my msf course in April but my buddy who owns an Indian scout will be teaching me uber a controlled environment I am so excited for this new chapter in my life.

I concur, my 620CC bike is still plenty fast/torquey and its only pushing 65hp.

Yup, I’ve been riding over a decade and probably the most fun bike I’ve ever had was a 30hp DR350. Lightweight and flickable makes up for a LOT of power.

I used to have a Ninja. Now you can pry my CL350 from my cold dead hands.

Congrats! Beautiful bike. I was looking at this and a Ninja 300 w/ABS. Still unsure what I’m going to do, but leaning towards the Ninja due to inexperience. Enjoy it!!

It’s got a big droopy ass. Which is a problem most newer bikes have until someone performs plastic surgery. I’d take the $300 and get rid of that monstrosity hanging off the back.

Otherwise nice looking bike. Have fun, and just take it slow to start with. Don’t grab too much throttle. (Like any rider would ever listen to that sort of advice... I mean beyond the have fun part.)

I didn’t want to say it, but yea. Even just going from the FZ6 to an R6... I took the R6 out for a quick ride the other day and feel like it has no business on public roads, lol.

The CL350 is the one with scrambler pipes, right? I always loved the way those look.

Why am I full of something that is widely known, all the riders I heard of eventually upgrade to a larger bike I don't have that kind of money and time so I just went for what I wanted initially.

I will let you know how it goes with this. I went onto the fz forum and lots of new riders are getting this bike as long as you take it slow and practice control you should be good is the general consensus.

you dont buy a buy a bike to grow into. there is a reason to learn on something small. you learn to ride, not learn to be afraid of the power a 250/300? that will last you a season.

key word, EVENTUALLY upgrade to.

but hey, lets not listen to the guy who actually teachs and has seen this countless times. squid buys something over powered (granted, this is FAR from the worst situation i’ve seen), squid think he can control it, squid stuffs it, squid may or may not make it.

just dont crash.

I know of plenty of people that bought big bikes and are still good if you do your research the fz 07 is actually a great bike to learn on. You are always on this site crapping on everybody's parade just because you are an instructor. I respect your knowledge and take your advice into consideration but stop coming off like such an asshole just because you are an instructor.
